Not only do animals give you unconditional love, but they have been known to benefit both your mental and physical health. Here are five reasons why you should adopt and not shop for new pets!
1. Good karma points
Caring for a pet can increase opportunities to exercise, get outside and socialize. They can also provide you a sense of purpose, and reduce that feeling of loneliness. And when you adopt, you can also feel good about helping an animal in need!
2. It’ll cost you less
When you welcome a furry friend into your home, the initial cost of neutering, vaccinations and pet supplies can already pile up. Most pets from shelters are already spayed or neutered and vaccinated, which means you don’t have to bear the financial burden of doing all that. Therefore, save cost, and a life, by adopting instead!
3. Adoption helps more than one animal
Adoption doesn’t just help one animal, it helps the whole stray community. By adopting, you’re allowing shelters to make room for others. You are not only giving these animals a second chance, but it also directly helps these shelters care for these animals.
4. Journal
When you adopt a pet from a shelter, you’re helping out the community as a whole by:
a) increasing the awareness of stray animals to be spayed or neutered.
b) preventing overpopulation of strays.
c) preventing any unwanted harm to these animals.
5. You’ll get a new best friend!
